Fibre Optic Splice Protection Sleeves
The fusion spliced region of the fibre is bare glass and thus needs to be protected. Various systems designs are used to carry this out.
The thermo shrinking type of splice protection sleeves consists of three parts, the outer heat shrinkable tubing, the inner hot melt adhesive tubing and the strength member. The inner hot melt adhesive melts and adheres to the fibre and the outer tubing shrinks to completely encapsulate it. The strength member gives mechanical strength to the sleeve preventing bending and allowing the sleeves to be arranged in splicing trays conveniently.
Quick shrinking is a feature of few of our models. These sleeves are designed for shrinking faster than commonly available sleeves. The reduced shrinkage time results in many more splices in same battery capacity of splicing machine saving valuable time and money. This feature is of critical importance in field where the technician may have to come back to re-charge batteries.
